No Assembly Required is a band that I've wanted to do an interview with for awhile now.  I think the band is definitly a hot up and cummer!  I know they're hard workers and they deserve every bit of success they receive!  I was introduced to the sound of No Assembly Required while standing in line for a concert in the freezing cold.  They were out selling their cds....I just had to buy one!  Any band that works in the freezing cold of winter to try to make a few bucks is definitly a hard working band!  When I got home that night and put on the cd I was amazed at how good there are!  I still haven't seen them live, but thats definitly sumthing thats gonna happen in my near future!  Here's my interview with System 86....

Who are you and why am I interviewing you?
System 86 the Guitarist of ***No Assembly Required*** and cuz you love me.

Give me some history about No Assembly Required.
Well, we have been a band for about 5 years now. Luca and Me started the band way back in the day.

Whats the band up to these days?
We just finished a new CD that was mixed by Max Illidge of 40 Below Summer. We just got our new video on video rotation. So we have basically been trying to promote ourself a lot lately.

So you guys got a new album out.  Explain the process of gettin it all together.  Whats the name of the album?  Who wrote the songs and music?  Where was it recorded?
Yup, our new album is out now. It is called "Constructing The Machine". We spent a really long time on it. We recorded most of the tracks in a friends studio here in Hamilton Ontario. Then Luca and Myself went to New Jersey to record extra stuff with Max Illidge, and Mix the record. It was then Mastered in New York. As for song writing, pretty much Luca and Me write all the music, we always have. T-rod had a lot of input tho on his drumming. Most of the songs recorded were songs we already had done in the past so it didnt leave much room for change for him... But on the new stuff we added a lot to them.

Whats your favorite song on the new album?  Whats your favorite song by No Assembly Required?
My fav song changes from day to day to be honest. Right now i'd have to say I am liking "Breaking The Killer" or "Shove".

What were your influences growing up?  Who are your influences now?
When I first started playing guitar, Nirvana, Black Sabbath, and Alice in Chains were my favs. Right now I have so many. I guess more recent influences are 40 Below Summer, Fear Factory, Machine Head. I'm really liking Chimaira these days too.

I see that you guys got a video on MuchLoud.  Where was the video shot?  Who did the video?
Yeah, our new video has actually been on Much Music, Much Loud, MTV canada, MTV2, and Edge TV that i know of. It was shot in our home of Toronto ONT, and Justin McConnell with help from the Unstable Ground crew shot our video, and will shoot our next.

Do you think music videos are a good way of promoting your band?
For sure. It helps a lot of people hear you and take interest in you that would have never bothered to go check you live or buy your CD.

If you were a wrestler, what would your name be?  Sticking with the wrestling theme, what would your finishing move be called and how would it be performed?
If I were a wrestler, I would be "The System" I would finish off my opponents with a move called "The Systematic", which would be similar to the great Bret Hart's Sharpshooter.

If a rooster is called a cock, why isn't a cock called a rooster?
I have a cock...

What local bands kick as much ass as yourselves?
Umm, havent really followed the local scene much lately. But i'll give props to our buds in Tallman, and Transfixt.

Wheres the best place to see local bands in Toronto?
Many good venues. Depends really. The Big Bop, Club Rockit, The 360. All great places.

If you were a promoter and you were organizing a show, what any 5 bands from the past or present would you get to play, and where would the show be?
hmmm, NAR, 40 Below Summer, Fear Factory, Machine Head, Black Sabbath... at some big building...

If you could have sex with any celebrity, who would it be and why did you pick that one?
Christina Aguilera, I like her voice.
Yeah, the "voice" does it for me too!!

Who's the number 1 under rated band and/or artist?
40 Below Summer. Their new CD is going to be fuckin amazing.

Music cumms and goes in cycles, Punk & Nu-Metal being sum of the most recent trends.  What do you think the next big trend will be?
Emo, Hardcore... Emocore. I think a lot of people who like that music (especially hardcore) want to like music no one else likes so they can be all individuals or some shit, and the sec the bands they like turn popular they will stop liking them. And the trend will be dead.

Do you feel that art should be a part of music?
Music is art. Anything that makes music art and makes it actually mean something is for the better. It adds substance to the music.

If you HAD to choose between a 300 pound woman, a transexual, or an animal of your choice....Which one would you fuck?
None thanx.
Hey man, I said u HAD to choose!

Tell me about your website http://www.narmusic.com/ How often is it updated? Who does the work on it?
It is updated like once a week at the least. We have several people who work on it from time to time. We like to keep it updated and filled with lots of useful and useless information.

Any shows cummin up?
We are playing with Dog Fashion Disco on July 16th in Toronto.

Anything else to promote?

Any last words?
thanx for the interview. it was by far one of the more interesting ones I have done... especially with the whole farm animal question and stuff. peace.

Thanks 4 doin the interview man!  I'm glad you enjoyed doin it!  I try to be different with my interviews....I'm sure artists get tired of answering the same questions over and over again!  So I try to shake it up a bit!  Best of luck in the future!!
