Who are you, and why am I interviewing you?
I am Kim Morris, 23 year old, African, Cherokee Indian, Italian and Irish open-minded, chcik. A horrible speller with a zanny, can I say zanny, sense of humour. You're interviewing me, honestly, because I took my public relations background, and researched for bomb-ass zines that look out for new talent, and dropped you an email.
Tell me about the band(s) your in. Who else is in the band? What do you do in the band?
13 Flowers, is kinda a relflection of self, ourselves. Rock, Punk, whatever, are historically equated with evil, and flowers with beauty. Put two beautiful girls with voices to match, and three guys that you might not want to take home to mom, but just take home, who all have rediculus musical talent and production backgrounds, and there you have it. Plus, its cool I was born on Friday, September 13th. By 13 Flowers, having two female singers we have a unique vocal sound, I bring harmony to the rock scene with a background in Gospel, Jazz, and R&B, Acaplea, while Gayle Ritt, has that bravado-y, indie rock chick sound, and over this music provided by idealist and guitarist Beau Glazer, drummer John Doyle and bassist Jaxxxon Grim, compiled to make a force to be reckon with. 13 Flowers, has been playing around Chicago, for the last year and a half, at such venues as: The Metro Theatre, Double Door, Elbo Room, Schuba's Tavern, Gunther Murphy's, etc. and as well in MI, at the Globe Theatre, and in LA, at the Cat Club. Our debut Paperheart Voodoo will be out this spring.
How serious is the band? Do you guys wanna make it a career or is this just a hobby?
For sure it goes way beyond a hobby, a hobby doesn't take up this much of your passion.
What's the band been up to? Got any shows cummin up?
Well we are very proud of out debut, Paperheart Voodoo, containing 13 tracks, of course. It should be out in spring. We are playing at The Double Door (Milwaukee/Damen/North Ave.) in Chicago, on April 29th, Around 9pm, door open at 8. We are also having a cd release party in May, either at The Double Door as well or at Hard Rock Cafe, later to be confirmed. Also, we're spreading the word east to New York, at CBGB's, this summer, dates to come as well. 13 Flowers, website is also on the way.
What do you guys sound like?
You know its something special when you've been compared to Infectious Grooves and System Of A Down. Damn, that's wild! I would say that we definitly are different, and that we bring a sexy swing to hard alternative rock, with jazzy harmonies, head-bobbing strums and hard grinding guitar, crazy drum riffs and edgy bass lines, to sum it up, we're attempting to fill that void in the music scene, rocking like the big dogs, but only like girls can.
What kind of musical equipment do you use?
It's pretty natural, meaning your standard Fender Telecaster, Gibson LesPaul and Marshall Half Stack guitars, DOD effects, BC Rich Bass, Acoustic bass amp and Yamaha drums. There's some promos for ya!
Are you plannin on doin any touring? Will you cum to Canada?
Yeah, we're planning a small tour: back to LA, then Ohio, NY, and posibly Florida. I'd love to cum to Canada, haven't been up there since I was 13, actually, on a school trip. Couldn't go anywhere cool, though. Got any suggestions on where to play?
What kind of following do you have?
Good following of Metal and Pop lovers. Since every member of this band has been doing their own musical thing for years in Chicago.
Whats the scene like in you hometown? What bands RAWK?
The local music scene is pretty diverse. Some of my favorites are, Velvetron, Idecline and this cover band that puts on a crazy stage show, with half naked chicks, a little guy on stilts blowing fire and Alice In Wonderland playing on TVs on stage, but unfortunately I don't remember their name. Bummer. Heard of them? I'll try to remember for next time.

Fav Band-Ooh, that's tough, too, I listen to everything, old and new, but System Of A Down, Chilli Peppers, Disturbed, The Police, Clash, Beatles, Cranberries and Depeche Mode are on top. I like alot of others too, but you can't really consider them "bands". You know?

What do you have to say to the females that have backed down?
Get Back up. There's that saying that goes something like the only thing worst that fear is not trying. Plus, Elenor Roosevelt, for whatever its worth, said "No one can make you feel bad about yourself, without permission", which is true, so if its what you really want even if its vermon dentistry or prostitute celibicy, you should stick to it and keep going.

If you were elected President of the USA, what are the first five things you would do?
Health care for all, raise minimum wage, establish better outlets for the comoon Joe to express governmental concerns, take out the tolls on highways (they've been paid for years ago) and give the homeless more than newspapers (which do not contain actual news) to sell legitimately. One more please...even out education between public/private schools.
If you could party with anybody thats dead or alive, who would it be and why?
Probably been said, but John Lennon or Jimmy Hendricks. Imagine the conversations we could have, plus the harmonies with either one of those guys would be eutophia.
What is the most disgusting real life story you can think of?
One time on the "L" train in Chicago, at only 8pm, some jag-off, did just that next to me. I mean I guess it was a compliment, but we just met.
Whats the worst tasting thing you've put in your mouth?
Wheatgrass juice. I could have just eaten my grass clippings for free.
Why aren't there more chicks in bands?
I don't know, its so fun. Maybe theres a stigma that the music will come out sounding like Sarah McLauflin with guitar (no offense she's a great singer, especially Mirrorball) But you know what I mean. They should try, it will sound different and who's not listening for that?
What bands do you like?
Anyone with talent who you can tell it didn't take 10 minutes to complete the damn thing.
What's the worst album you ever bought?
Not to diss, but Backstreet Boys, the first one, it was a gift from my little sister, I think she knew I'd just give it to her anyway when she bought it.

Regardless of the musical taste or lack there of, it sucks! No one wants to die, just going out and having a good time, usually the biggest concern is being able to score that night.
What do you think of the whole Iraq and U.S.A. situation?
I'm pretty much against the US' whole envolvement and political suicide that this whole thing could materialize as, and understand terrorism's bad, but killing people innocent or not is still bad. Its just a tough situation to deal with, let alone attempt to fix. All people deserve rights and freedom. But I am only one person, and I don't remember giving the president permission to procede with any of this in the first place so I guess it really doesn't make a big difference anyway. Can't stop a river that's already running, you can either fight the current or go with the flow. You know?
If you could be a douche or a used condom for any celebrity...who would it be?
Being an appreciator of beauty I would have to say any of the rediculusly hot girls on most rap videos and Paul Walker and DeAngelo. The only bad part is that you get thrown away.

Oh, you mean, gaunga, kind, dro, dank? I dig it, and am kinda a snob about it, though (only like the good stuff.) The governmental scheduling of drugs is all social-economic garbage, but with hydroponics, the levels of THC are double then what they used to be, so it can be strong and not so harmless, but then again neither are cigarettes or alcohol. Like everything else, educate yourself and be responsible about it. Duh.

Whats the most embarrassing thing thats happened to you?
Freshman year, on the first day of highschool, I fell off the bus, and the driver stopped so everyone could get a good laugh in. I saw their heads rolling. I'm a huge clutz, so I've probably blocked out the most brutal instances.
When was the last time you shit or pissed yourself?
Oh shit! If I would have gotten caught this would be the answer to the last question. I didn't eat all day, was nervous about some corporate interview I was going to, and drank 3 coffees, and smoke tons of cigarettes. Finally it was over, jumped on the train, and was almost home, when I thought I had to poot, but it wasn't. I had on a skirt and was praying that it didn't fall out from underneath, luckily I was okay, and the love of my life, helped me clean it. Can you believe it, crazy what you won't tell anyone you know, but you'll tell a stanger.
